Trump Will Address March for Life via Satellite

President Donald Trump will address Friday’s March for Life in Washington, D.C., live from the White House Rose Garden via satellite, making him the first sitting U.S. president to address the event from the White House.

“We’re excited to announce that the president will become the first sitting president to address the March for Life from the White House … The president is committed to protecting the life of the unborn,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced Wednesday.

“Since his first day in office, President Trump has remained steadfast on his campaign promises to the pro-life cause and has actively worked to protect the unborn,” March for Life President Jeanne Mancini said in a press release sent to The Daily Caller News Foundation.

“Over the past year, the Trump administration has significantly advanced pro-life policy, and it is with great confidence that, under his leadership, we expect to see other pro-life achievements in the years to come,” Mancini said.

Trump will headline the 2018 March for Life lineup of speakers, which includes House Speaker Paul Ryan, Pam Tebow, Matt and Adrianna Birk, Rep. Dan Lipinski, D-Ill., and others. The march, themed “Love Saves Lives,” is expected to draw more than 100,000 people.

“In his first year in office, he and his administration have already gone farther than any administration in history to demonstrate his commitment to unborn children and their mothers. President Trump stands united with us and is leading the pro-life movement on to victory,” Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said, according to a press release.

Vice President Mike Pence addressed the 2017 March for Life, marking a historic first, as no president or vice president had addressed March for Life attendees in person since its inception in 1974, according to Fortune. Former Presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush both addressed pro-lifers at the rally remotely during their terms.

Below-Freezing Temperatures Don’t Stop Record Numbers of Pro-Lifers From Marching in Chicago

Despite frigid temperatures, record numbers of people came out to march against abortion Sunday at Chicago’s 2018 March for Life.

More than 6,000 people gathered at the march, marking the largest pro-life gathering in the Midwest to date.

“This March for Life Chicago drew people of all ages, from across the Midwest,” said Dawn Fitzpatrick, president of March for Life Chicago’s board of directors, according to a TC Public Relations press release. “They are from all walks of life, but they have one thing in common, they know that love saves lives and that abortion is one of our culture’s gravest ills.”

Chicago Bears co-owner Pat McCaskey kicked off the march with music from the Carmel High School Marching Band from Mundelein, Illinois.

“The deadliest thing in the world is indifference,” Ramona Trevino, the keynote speaker and a former Planned Parenthood manager, told the onlooking crowd. Trevino added that pro-lifers must use love to counter the forces that make it possible for Planned Parenthood to perform more than 300,000 abortions a year. The march also featured remarks from Chicago’s archbishop, U.S. congressmen, and Illinois legislators.

“[Teens] are being groomed as future abortion patients because Planned Parenthood promotes a promiscuous lifestyle,” Trevino recently told The Daily Caller News Foundation in an exclusive interview.

“We’re not discouraging them from having sex at a young age. We have monthly quotas to meet. They’re just numbers,” she said.

Trevino worked as the manager of a Planned Parenthood abortion referral facility in Sherman, Texas, for three years before leaving in 2011.

Chicago will host a Women’s March focusing on women’s reproductive rights and abortion access Saturday, according to WGN9 News.

University Offers ‘Problem of Whiteness’ Class, Again

The University of Wisconsin-Madison will reintroduce a class this spring that teaches students why being white is a bad thing.

The “Problem of Whiteness” course—part of the African Cultural Studies program—makes its mission to help students “understand how whiteness is socially constructed and experienced in order to help dismantle white supremacy.” The class will also investigate how white people “consciously and unconsciously perpetuate institutional racism and how this not only devastates communities of color but also perpetuates the oppression of most white folks along the lines of class and gender.”

The course aims also to teach students about what an ethical white identity entails, as well as what it means to be woke.

“Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive—students said they found it valuable to examine majority cultures and how power imbalances are created, sustained, and challenged in societies around the world,” a University of Wisconsin-Madison spokesperson wrote in an email to The College Fix.

“The problem of racism is the problem of whites being racist towards blacks,” the course’s professor, Damon Sajnani, told The College Fix in a 2016 phone interview. Sajnani is also a rapper who writes songs about the problems of whiteness.

Not everyone is happy about the course, however, including multiple state lawmakers who loudly expressed their displeasure over the university’s course offering. “I am extremely concerned that UW-Madison finds it appropriate to teach a course called, ‘The Problem of Whiteness,’ with the premise that white people are racist,” state Rep. Dave Murphy, R-Greenville, wrote in a statement after the course was first announced in 2016.

“Even more troubling, the course is taught by a self-described ‘international radical’ professor whose views are a slap in the face to the taxpayers who are expected to pay for this garbage,” Murphy continued. Despite Murphy’s and others’ objections, the university continues barreling forwarding and has no plans to retract the course for spring 2018.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison did not reply to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment in time for publication.

California Democrat Wants to Mandate State Colleges Have Abortion Pills Ready for Students

California lawmakers are debating whether to adopt a bill that would require California’s public universities and colleges to offer abortion drugs at their health centers.

Senate Bill 320, sponsored by state Sen. Connie Leyva, D-Chino, will mandate that the state’s community colleges and public universities provide women with abortion pills for up to 10 weeks of pregnancy so they don’t face the “burden” of traveling to obtain an abortion.

While the bill—if passed—isn’t set to take effect until 2020, it would also require the state’s public university health centers that don’t already offer abortion pills to provide transportation to an abortion facility or to arrange an abortion for students requesting the procedure.

“If a UC, CSU, or community college already has a student health center, it makes sense that they provide this health care service within that facility so that students do not have to travel many miles away from their work and school commitments in order to [have an abortion],” Leyva said, according to LifeNews. She claims the bill is a necessity so that young collegiate women don’t have to foot the cost of abortions themselves or travel long distances to have abortions.

The state’s health centers already provide reproductive services like birth control, condoms, and STD testing, but this bill seeks to stretch its offerings to a whole new level. The bill would also require the schools to cover the cost of the abortions.

“Not only will this bill destroy the lives of innocent children, but the chemical abortion medication being mandated has a notorious reputation for being very painful and traumatic,” California Family Council CEO Jonathan Keller said, LifeNews reports. “These drugs are known for not just causing physical pain to the mother, but psychological anguish that could last a lifetime,” he added.

“These pills will hurt our daughters and end the lives of our grandchildren by forcefully inducing a miscarriage up to 10 weeks of pregnancy, with hemorrhaging and delivery of the baby into the dorm room toilet,” said Californians for Life, according to LifeNews. The pro-life group is made up of a diverse coalition of students, educators, legislative advocates, churches, families, business owners, and citizens who are united together to end abortion in California, according to its website.

Pro-lifers are also displeased that the already taxpayer-funded colleges would require citizens against abortion to fund those procedures at the state’s public higher education institutions.

Another Planned Parenthood Clinic Shuts Its Doors

An Iowa Planned Parenthood clinic will close its doors Friday after government defunding forced it to discontinue operations.

“After nearly two decades in the Quad Cities, on Friday, December 29, 2017, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland will officially close their Bettendorf location, a move directly resulting from defunding by extreme Iowa lawmakers,” Planned Parenthood said in a statement, according to LifeNews.

The Iowa abortion affiliate received roughly $2.7 million every year from taxpayer dollars, but after the state changed its laws—redirecting that money to family planning services and other organizations that provide reproductive health care but do not perform abortions—the Planned Parenthood clinic couldn’t sustain its activities.

“Gov. Kim Reynolds and anti-woman lawmakers forced us to make some extremely difficult changes this year in order to continue providing care for as many patients as possible,” Planned Parenthood Heartland President Suzanna de Baca said in the statement. “It is as devastating today as it was last spring to announce that we are no longer able to serve our patients in Bettendorf,” she added.

Pro-lifers, however, see this shutdown as yet another win for those who value life. Planned Parenthood now operates fewer than 600 abortion clinics in the U.S. after 33 clinics closed in 2017. The abortion giant opened only five new clinics in 2017, according to LifeNews.

The organization ran 938 clinics in 1995 when Planned Parenthood was at its peak operational level, and it has closed 36 percent of its clinics since 1995, according to an American Life Leagues report about Planned Parenthood.

Ten states account for 60 percent of all Planned Parenthood facilities in America: California, New York, Washington, Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
